Appreciation

Thank you for taking the time to discover the philosophy of Global Horizons. We appreciate your interest! We sincerely believe in what we do in, for, and with communities and organizations.

Experienced Ownership

The owners of the company are Frank and Kimberlee Spillers. Frank possesses more than 20 years of experience working with rural to large communities in many aspects of community and rural development. Frank stimulates people through keynote addresses, retreats, workshops and strategic planning. Our expertise can be used with any individual or team of groups from business, church, chamber, city government, county government, education, or economic development. We have success working with many varied groups to work toward a common vision from chamber, economic development and private organizations to countywide and multi-county projects.

Building individuals - "Visioneering"

The philosophy of Global Horizons is based on the belief that in order to build a whole community or organization, you need to build each individual first. Through a process called "visioneering," Global Horizons is a firm specializing in generating positive attitudes in relationships with individuals in businesses, communities, organizations, and churches. We stimulate any given community of people to become the best they can be to work creatively and productively together.

Emphasizing Leadership

Global Horizons' model for success is based upon building community leadership. Without leadership, nothing else happens. Leadership encourages the people of the community to become the best they can become. Leadership charts the course for the future of the community. Leadership brings direction for the community to support the overall vision. Leadership is also key to creating collaborative networks, an ever-increasing strength for successful communities and organizations. We have studied, taught, and implemented social and organizational networks in communities. Networks take ideas and momentum to new levels of excitement, creativity, and involvement.

Specializing in Small Communities

While Global Horizons has worked with and helped many different kinds of organizations, one of our specialties is helping save and energize small communities based on entrepreneurial creativity. When organizations hire Global Horizons, they receive an experienced team that helps the town's leaders create a citizen-based vision and roadmap for the future. Our approach has come from years of experience applied successfully to a variety of communities and organizations. Our company is committed to keeping America's small towns strong and vibrant!

Communicate on "Common Ground"

Another facet of Global Horizons is that we are in relationship with the Kettering Foundation, a research institute in Dayton, Ohio. Through a process developed by the Foundation, we are able to convene, frame, moderate, record, and report on community conversations through a process called public deliberation. This process enables groups of any kind and size to engage in discussion, not debate, of sensitive and potentially contentious issues. This process identifies "common ground" values, which enable a group to move forward on an issue. We have experience working with small groups and statewide projects. It is an extremely rewarding, educational process for everyone that enables groups of people to discover that tough issues can be addressed positively. It's an exciting technique!
